In All the Families

I’m lucky enough to have a friend who is a generous and enthusiastic supporter of CAM H (Centre for Addictions and Mental Health.)  A while back I asked her how she happened to become involved with CAM H. The honesty of her response brought me up short:

“A lot of people have alcoholism in their families. Others have diabetes or cancer. But EVERYONE has some sort of CAM H issue in there somewhere – no matter how much they try to hide things.

While there is less of a stigma now than there was when we were kids, we still struggle with language around this. And until we are able to talk openly about mental health issues, we won’t be able to address them fully.”
